LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Summit Entertainment, the upstart film outfit behind the “Twilight” phenomenon as well as critical fave “The Hurt Locker,” is doing what all clever indies do: “pushing” into TV. The studio is developing a TV series based on its recent science-fiction thriller “Push,” which centered on people with paranormal powers who band together to take down a corrupt government agency.
The script will be written by David Hayter, whose credits include “Watchmen” and two of the “X-Men” movies. Summit has partnered on the project with another indie, E1 Entertainment.
Summit released the movie “Push” last February. Directed by Paul McGuigan and starring Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle and Djimon Hounsou, the picture grossed nearly $50 million worldwide.
