Oren Peli’s new film, 'Area 51'

Paranormal Activity has everyone looking at director Oren Peli to see what he’s going to do next. Well, it’s Area 51. Obviously, the film is about the secret military base, which is home to a lot of conspiracies about UFOs and Aliens. His new film focuses on three teenagers trying to get inside Area 51. Hopefully it won’t employ the same nauseating camera work used in Paranormal Activity.

From what we’ve read, Area 51 will focus on three guys—Chris, who is into astronomy and aliens, Paul, a skeptic, and Rob, a follower of anything. There’s also a woman named Natalie whose father claims he was abducted by aliens. The guys are on a trip to Vegas and arrange a meeting with a former Area 51 employee. The three eventually attempt breaking into the facility to get video evidence of extraterrestrial contact.

And yes, according to copies of the script, the film begins with Chris testing out his brand new video camera. Great – Hopefully it’s a Sony with SteadyShot and they disable the zoom. It is very possible to have the amateur camera effect without going overboard like Paranormal Activity did.
