PHILADELPHIA —- Things are beginning to get spooky in town as the Ghost Tour of Philadelphia will expand its tour lineup for the 2009 Halloween season with interactive Ghost Hunts.

The new tours will be offered in addition to the Ghost Tour of Philadelphia’s traditional Candlelight Walking Tours and Haunted Trolley Tours.

The Ghost Hunt features haunted locations in Independence Park and Society Hill and combines storytelling with basic ghost investigation techniques. “Halloween events are typically staged with actors, props and scripts.

The Ghost Hunts are unique in that there are no special effects; there is no make-believe. You don’t know what will happen,” said Tom Roberts of the Ghost Tour. Full Moon, Half Moon, and Dark Side of the Moon Ghost Hunts are scheduled through the fall.

For more true ghost stories and real haunted houses, guests may partake in an evening of costumed storytelling with the Ghost Tour of Philadelphia. Candlelight Walking Tours run nightly at 7:30 p.m., with an additional 9:30 p.m. tour on Fridays and Saturdays. Haunted Trolley Tours run Thursday through Sunday at 8 p.m. Stories are based on the book Ghost Stories of Philadelphia, which is available for purchase on location. The tours are family-friendly.

The Ghost Tour of Philadelphia departs from Signers Garden at 5th and Chestnut streets. Tickets may be purchased across the street at the Omni Hotel Gift Shop, online at www.ghosttour.com, or by calling 215-413-1997. For a complete schedule of events and special savings, visit www.ghosttour.com.
