Many NDE's see a 'White light'

“Authors and experts are getting together this year to discuss the possibility of near-death experiencers having enhanced abilities including artistic, healing and psychic abilities,” writes Alan Hippleheuser for the Examiner.

“One of the only research organizations in the world dedicated to the scientific study of near-death experiences is having a conference with the theme, “Transformed in the Light: Helping Humanity with Enhanced Abilities after NDEs” writes Hippleheuser.

The association is called The International Association for Near Death Studies, IANDS, and the conference takes place in San Diego this October 16-17, 2009. Near-death experiencers and researchers will come together to share the truth about so-called “death” and the implications for our lives.

A near-death experience (NDE), refers to a broad range of personal experiences associated with impending death, encompassing multiple possible sensations including detachment from the body; feelings of levitation; extreme fear; total serenity, security, or warmth; the experience of absolute dissolution; and the presence of a light, which some people interpret as a deity. Some see NDEs as a paranormal and spiritual glimpse into the afterlife.

These phenomena are usually reported after an individual has been pronounced clinically dead, or otherwise very close to death, hence the entitlement near-death experience. Many NDE reports, however, originate from events that are not life threatening. With recent developments in cardiac resuscitation techniques, the number of NDEs reported has increased. Many in the scientific community regard such experiences as hallucinatory, while paranormal specialists and a few mainstream scientists claim them to be evidence of an afterlife.
