Close Encounters of the Third Kind
“Aliens invade earth. This is the plot-line for countless sci-fi movies. The popularity of invasion films began in the 1950’s and has only grown with each passing decade, as shown through the box office success of District 9,” reports Beth Clough for the Examiner.
“Some of the greatest invasion films aren’t even that great of movies; they usually have corny lines, tons of overacting, or extreme implausibility, but that doesn’t stop them from being top on our lists of great sci-fi films. Because the 1950’s set the bar for all films of its kind to come, here is a list of the top alien invasion films that have been made since,” reports Clough.
Clough put together a pretty good list and wrote great descriptions of each movie and why it’s on the list here.
Clough reports on the top 10 Alien invasion films:
1. District 9
2. Independence Day
3. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
4. War of the Worlds
5. Invasion of the Body Snatchers
6. M.I.B.
7. Signs
8. Predator
9. Superman II
10. Mars Attacks!
